Controversy is currently swirling around Planned Parenthood following the release of several videos by the anti-abortion group Center for Medical Progress. The group claims that the videos provide evidence that the national women’s health organization is inappropriately profiting from the sale of aborted fetuses. On the surface, the allegations are quite concerning, however according to Tara Culp-Ressler, a Senior Editor at ThinkProgress the story takes on a different tone when considering the source of the inflammatory claims. Tara joins me today to discuss the people behind this latest attempt to restrict women’s access to medical care and why their “evidence” should be seriously questioned. When protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement disrupted the presidential candidates’ forum at Netroots Nation on Saturday many of the conventions white liberals and progressives were upset by the demonstration, claiming that this was neither the time nor place for such an action. However, according to Adele M. Stan, a columnist at The American Prospect, Netroots Nation was the exact perfect place for the protest because when you’re not being heard by your own side; it’s time to make noise. Adele joins me today to talk all about the tone deaf responses of Sen. Sanders and Gov. O’Malley to the protests and the need for white progressives to rally around the Black Lives Matters movement.
