Today on The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SiriusXM PROGRESS ch.127
Despite the fact that
the Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP is on the fast track through Congress,
activists and labor groups are still fighting against what they see as yet
another domestic job killing free trade deal that will surely force American
jobs overseas to countries like Vietnam that have extremely questionable worker
safety and rights records. Proponents of
the trade pact claim that the deal will help bring labor practices in countries
like Vietnam in line with international standards, but according to Michelle Chen of The Nation, TPP could actually make working conditions worse in
Vietnam. She joins me today to discuss
how the free market won’t break the country’s manufacturers’ reliance on forced
labor, child labor, and dismal wages. You can also follow Michelle on twitter.
Since announcing his candidacy for
President of the United States, Louisiana’s Republican Governor Piyush “Bobby”
Jindal has failed to gain any national momentum despite his attempts to appeal
to the GOP’s far-right religious base by playing up his conversion to
Christianity and opposition to equal rights for LGBT Americans. Joining me today to talk all about the anti-gay company that Governor Jindal keeps is Taylor
Huckaby, Gov. Jindal’s former New Media Director and the only openly gay
staffer to work for Governor Piyush “Bobby” Jindal who wrote all about his time with the Governor in a guest column in the New Orleans Advocate. You can also follow Taylor on twitter.
