Yesterday, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency announced that due to budget cuts 31 satellite DMV offices would no longer be able to issue driver’s licenses, which means that residents will need to travel to other counties to apply for licenses. This move comes just one year after the state’s voter photo ID law went into effect, and the fact that the DMV’s slated to be closed are all located in counties were African Americans make up more than 75 percent of registered voters has left many people questioning the legality and intentions of the closures.  Joining me today to talk all about the DMV closures and the affect it will have on African Americans in Alabama is John Archibald a columnist for The Birmingham News & al.com.  You can also follow John on twitter.
