Last week, ProPublica published the results of its
first-of-its-kind analysis and investigation into a little-known but pervasive
shift in the way debt is collected in America and the results are
troubling. According to their
investigation debt collection lawsuits are far more common and aggressive in
black communities than white ones and are squeezing America’s Black
Neighborhoods dry. Joining me today to
discuss the investigation and its findings is Paul Kiel who covers business and the economy for ProPublica and is one of the co-authors
