The Libby commutation: 13% approved
Yet another prediction by the media blatherers is deflated: Gallup notes that the commutation did not help Bush at all with his base, despite what the right-wing pundits, and much of the rest of the media, claimed would happen. Only 13% of Americans approved --- and only 6% wanted a full pardon.
I have said on the show every day since the commutation that this would hurt rather than help Bush and wrote it right here on that day, though the blatherers were saying the opposite. What I didn't realize was that even the right-wing gasbag pundits are unhappy because it wasn't the full commutation, and now the Democrats are keeping it alive with hearings in Congress. He satisfied no one, and pissed off everyone. More evidence that this was not about the base or about Bush loyalty. This was about fear of what Libby would say if spent even a day in jail, end of story.
