Larry Craig: The Media Made Me Do It

According to his lawyer, Larry Craig will try to overturn his conviction and reverse his guilty plea by claiming that he was so terrorized by the Idaho-Statesman reporter Dan Popkey's investigation that he pleaded guilty. I've said before that the police sting was ugly and the cop was coercive, even if Craig was indeed seeking sex. But I highly doubt that Craig would have pleaded differently whether the Statesman was pursuing him or not. He wanted this to go away because he knew what was in his own past long before Dan Popkey came along. He was terrorized alright, but it was by his own closet, for much of his life.
