Jerry Nadler: No on ENDA if Trans Excluded

On the show yesterday Paul Schindler, editor of Gay City News, told me that the very pro-gay New York Congressman Jerry Nadler is saying he won't vote for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act if the bill doesn't protect transgendered people. This, even after the so-called deal that Nancy Pelosi announced on Friday, which still allows for a trans-excluded ENDA to be voted on. Schindler said Gay City News will post an interview with Nadler today, reaffirming that even after this "deal" he is not voting for ENDA unless it includes trans protections. That could influence the votes of many other Democrats. Schindler also said there was heated discussion between Nadler and Barney Frank last week, after Nadler informed Frank of his intentions. More to come.
