Probation and STD Testing
That's what Florida Republican state legislator Bob Allen got for offering 20 bucks and a blow job to an undercover cop. (Oh, and he can never go back to the park that he told a reporter he "built," which is why he supposedly was there). I know everyone would rather see this guy thrown in jail, but really, these sting operations are gross and no one should do time for them. And isn't it creepy that in Florida they can make you go through medical testing as a sentence for a (sex) crime which you didn't even yet commit?
I know -- it couldn't have happened to a better homophobe, hoist by his own petards, and all that. And just think, if Allen's own law had actually been passed, he'd now be guilty of a felony, and immediately removed from office:
Allen co-sponsored a bill months before his arrest that would have increased public sex charges from a misdemeanor to a felony. The proposed bill addressed "unnatural and lascivious acts or exposure or exhibition of sexual organs" within 1,000 feet of a park, school or child care facility.
