Gay Republican Delusions

Pam's got a funny post about Deb Price's latest column in which she interviews gay Republicans about the Republican presidential candidates.

A couple of weeks ago I had Patrick Sammon, president of the Log Cabin Republicans, on the show, and it was amazing how he defended Rudy Giuliani from his flip-flopping on gays while vilifying Mike Huckabee for his antigay comments. (Log Cabin even created and funded an anti-Huckabee ad). It was clear that Log Cabin is once again so deluded that they think if they run interference for the establishment candidate, even as he is courting the religious right, and attack the insurgent, they'll be rewarded kindly by the party and by the president whom they helped. Of course, that was their strategy with George W. Bush, who paid them back by trying to write discrimination against them into the U.S. Constitution. Will they ever learn that the Republicans just don't want them? Or, as Pam asks, What kind of Kool-Aid are they drinking?
