Obama Snub of Mayor Newsom over Same-Sex Marriage

Over the weekend, in her Logo interview, Hillary Clinton was afraid to actually use the word "transgender" -- choosing rather to say that she supports protecting "all Americans." I took it as politically motivated, in that she doesn't want John McCain or the Republicans having a clip of her saying the T word. It's the typical cowardly politics when it comes to politicans and queers.

It appears Obama has done the same thing, not wanting to appear in a photograph with Mayor Gavin Newsom after his decision to marry couples at City Hall. It tells us that Obama, though he claims not to be like other politicians, is really more of the same when it comes to the third rail. Again, not a dealbreaker for me, but a touch of reality amid all of the lofty Obama rhetoric. Check it out, from SF Chronicle:

"I gave a fundraiser, at his (Obama's) request at the Waterfront restaurant," said former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. "And he said to me, he would really appreciate it if he didn't get his photo taken with my mayor. He said he would really not like to have his picture taken with Gavin."
