More Blood on Their Hands
Suicides of active military personnel jumped to at least 115 in 2007, up from 102 in 2006. The ratio of 18.8 suicides per 100,000 troops is the highest since the Army began keeping records in 1980. This comes on top of the news earlier this week that the number of post-traumatic-stress-disorder diagnoses of U-S soldiers jumped 50% since last year. In 2007 there were 14,000 PTSD diagnoses bringing the total number of US service members afflicted to over 40,000.
All of this this news is terrible, and just one more example of how much strain the Bush/McCain Iraq War has put on those who serve in our armed forces.
