What You Are Saying

By popular demand of many listeners I'm putting some of the recent listener survey comments here on the blog. It's become an almost weekly ritual on the show to read the listener survey responses -- people call in and either agree or disagree, or laugh at some of the funnier ones. And many have asked if I'd put them on the blog too. I've put a bunch here from the last two or so readings on the show. In the future I'll put up the ones I read on the show that day. And for those of you who are listeners to the show, you can take the listener survey if you haven't already and I may read your comments some time too. (Note: Some of these comments were edited for space and I tried to fix typos and mispellings, but don't always catch them all.)

Love the show!! At first I was annoyed with listening, and thought you were ridiculous, but then I really started listening. Really listening, and have been "reborn" if you will. The show has changed my life, and the way I view our world. I was never very political, and had never voted. However am now talking about the presidential race with everyone I can, and have been convincing my husband to vote with me. Thank you so much for opening my eyes!! Keep up the awesome work!!!!

So, are you guys playing around at all with that "I am not gay" sound bite from Larry Craig? It cracks me up because it literally sounds like a young kid is singing it. So much so that I even catch myself singing it sometimes, like in a grocery store or at work or even in front of my wife. I'll look up and see her staring at me and I'll laugh because I can imagine what she's thinking. Not to mention my coworkers, etc. Anyway, is this line exactly how he said it or did you guys do something to it. I feel I deserve an explanation for making it stick in my head like that! :) ...and I do love your show! It's outstanding! [NOTE FROM MS: David Guggenheim, our producer, did speed up that audio clip slightly for the intros to the show, which are over a music bed, producing that effect. But every other time we use it, the clip is straight from the closet case's mouth, as he said it.]

My partner and I have a long commute to and from work and your show makes our ride back enjoyable. I used to live in NYC and belonged to ACT UP in their early years , so I have been a fan of yours for a long time. Thanks!!!!

I think you do not let callers say what they want to. You cut them off. If you do not like what they say sometimes you make fun of them -- you are this well schooled person. I think you think you are above some of us.

Your show is the highlight of my day. I get so upset when I realize it's 2:30 and I've already missed 30 minutes. I like all aspects of the show.

I love the long rants about news and current issues. My boyfriend and I just sit and listen together.

I really enjoy the show, Michaelangelo. Oftentimes I find that our opinions are very much aligned and though I'm a straight female, I am very concerned with gay issues. I see the current fight for equal marriage rights as the civil rights fight of current times and it sickens me that in this supposedly "progressive" country, an entire group of people are being singled out, hated, abused and rights are being taken away. I love that you don't pull any punches and I love that like me, you are not at all afraid to speak your mind and to hell with whomever might not be able to handle it.

Gay marriage is not the issue that gay people in small towns think is the greatest issue of our time. My partner and I did everything through a lawyer to have the same rights and results married couples do, well almost all. We are fine with that, we don't need to hijack a straight tradition to feel validated. We are more concerned about taxes and safety from terrorism.

I Love your Politics!!! Air America just didn't achieve what you acomplish! Your broadcast is so compelling! I have a difficult time shutting it off to go to work!!

Sometimes, I feel like Michael repeats what he has been talking about a bit too much. The times I'm only listening to the show for 20 minutes on the way home this is no big deal - but the times I am listening for an extended period of time feel like I'm hearing the same things over and over again.
***
Love the show! I like the news and monologues the best, but guests are good as long as they are discussing current events, or really the absolute best if they are radical right wingers! I love to hear you give them hell!
***
I thoroughly enjoy your show. While I respect your religious stances, at times I believe your views can be fairly extreme. Aside from that, keep telling it like it is!
***
I consider myself a moderate with liberal tendencies. I enjoy hearing your ultra liberal view. It's all about balance.
***
I find you very unfair on political issues as to Hillary Clinton, you’re obviously an Obama lover, you need to check your info better, the Clintons have a much longer history of supporting the gay community than he! You need to be more neutral and just report findings instead of trying to influence others!!!
***
I would like your show to feature who should be the Democratic nominee for president - specifically. I think you are a Hillary supporter. And as a man of intelligence, I would like to know why. Too many of my friends support her because she is a woman and marched in a gay parade and don't have much more than that to back it up. Is that why we want her to run the country - because of her politically motivated gay friendliness?

This show has been an eye opener for me. Because of the subjects that get brought up, I take time to research them further to learn even more (such as the presidential memorial commission in SF as talked about on todays show). I have become so much more informed about things that could affect me that NO OTHER MAINSTREAM MEDIA has bothered to talk about. It makes me sad that the news that could affect my way of life is apparently so unimportant to the rest of the world that it doesn't get reported.

My wife and I really enjoy Michaelangelo's humor and perspective on current issues. We support the rights of all people, including GBLT's. Keep up the great energy that illuminates the spirit of this show. As we travel between our homes in Ohio and Arizona we enjoy listening this program.
