Beating Back the FISA "Compromise"

Senator Chris Dodd has vowed to filibuster the FISA bill as it stands, with a passionate speech last night on the floor of the Senate. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said he won't support the House version of the FISA "compromise" bill. This puts him at odds with Barack Obama who announced his support of the bill. Dodd, on the short list for Obama's VP running mate, is nonetheless teaming up with Senator Russ Feingold to use procedural moves to kill the bill. All of this could be theater -- too little, too late -- that will not do a damn thing while trying to give some cover to Obama. But we've got to do what we can to stop it.

The vote on FISA is coming today or tomorrow. Call your Senators now and tell them to not pass the FISA bill as it stands! You can find your Senator's office number here.
