Throw It Out!

Civil rights groups are staying on the offense to protect our recently won right to marry in California. Both the National Center for Lesbian Rights and the ACLU have filed documents in court challenging legality of the proposed state Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage which qualified for the November ballot.

The 55-page petition to the Supreme Court argues that the measure circulated in the spring to potential voters was misleading because it was filed before the justices invalidated existing laws banning gay marriage.

"We filed this lawsuit because the sponsors of the initiative haven't followed the very Constitution they're trying to change," said Stephen Bomse, a lawyer assisting civil rights groups in the case.
While beating the wingnuts in court would be nice, we still have to keep our eyes on November. As we've said many times before on the show, go to equalityforall.com and donate!
