What a Day

I'm still reeling from yesterday, taking calls on the show from couples across California who were calling in to share their moments. In small towns, in rural areas, in big cities, they called while on the road, heading to the clerk's office, or afterward as newlyweds. Some dealt with protesters -- one couple had protesters trying to drown out their ceremony -- others not.

Some brought family and friends, others went alone. They had ministers or rabbis or opted for the Justice of the Peace. Most were overjoyed and emotional and that certainly was infectious as people from across the U.S. and Canada called in to congratulate the Californians and share in the events. Of course, we also had those who tried to bring it down -- the closet case who called in and said this was terrible and was going to lose us the election in November -- but for the most part it was just wonderful. And for me, such a privilege to be hosting an international radio show on a day like yesterday. I'll have more up on this at the ACLU blog, where they asked me to post today.
