Phil Gramm Thrown Under The Straight Talk Express

They did it late on Friday, hoping no one would notice, but of course we have: Phil Gramm, McCain's top economic adviser, has been tossed under the wheels of the Straight Talk Express just a week after saying that the United States had become a "nation of whiners" who constantly complain about the state of the economy, and that we are facing a "mental recession" instead of the real one we feel in our wallets and 401K's.

McCain had distanced himself quickly from Gramm's statements but the question remaining is whether McCain will be able to distance himself from Gramm's callous and elitist beliefs.

After a week of confused and vague statements from McCain's camp, Gramm has decided to resign, saying he was stepping down to end the distraction, Ah, what a champ!

Max Blumenthal, a regular contributor to the show, wrote an informative and entertaining article this past week on the many reasons we shouldn't grieve for Phil Gramm.
