Vigilante Injustice
This story is both tragic and infuriating. The Texas man who shot and killed two men who were burglarizing his next door neighbor's house has been cleared of any wrongdoing and will not face trial. We had a lot of discussion abou this on the show back when it happened, and we played the audio (below) back then, which had a lot of people calling in. We're going to get back into it this hour (fourth hour), and we're sure you'll have a lot to say.
The case is a perfect example of how lenient gun laws and a "shoot'em first" attitude really don't solve anything, ever. Joe Horn called 911 when he first noticed the burglars and stayed on the line with the emergency operator right until the point where he went outside and shot both of them in the back with a 12-gauge shotgun. The 911 operator repeatedly asked Horn not to step outside before the fatal shooting.
You can listen to the audio of Horn's 911 call here:
Now, is it just us or does it sound like Horn was really gunning to kill someone? We'll be getting back into this on the show today.
