The Washington Post editorial page is slamming McCain, joining other pundits -- like Joe Klein of Time mag, Chris Matthews, and others -- in voicing their alarm at McCain's tactics. He's always called them his base, and had them cozy up to him. Now they seem to be completely shocked and disappointed:
John McCain is a serious man who promised to wage a serious campaign. Win or lose, will he be able to look back on this one with pride? Right now, it's hard to see how.
