Palin's Tanning Bed

Sarah Palin installed a tanning bed in the governor's mansion, where she rarely spent much time anyway (since she was living in her home in Wasilla most of the year, don't forget, and billing taxpayers as if it was a business trip).

Come to think of it, she does seem to have a lot of color in her official portrait, doesn't she? Sure, she paid for the machine herself, but remember how Republicans pushed the story of John Edwards' $400 haircut, not to mention the various alleged Bill Clinton and John Kerry extravagances, to show the supposed vanity of the candidates. What's good for the goose...

I realize it gets really dark in Alaska in winter but she could go to a salon if she needed a tan rather than spend tens of thousands of dollars on a tanning bed (a used one can go for $35,000). But that would be too public, as everyone would know you were getting some artificial sun when you should look like you got a natural tan from hunting down moose.

And it doesn't say much about the McCain-Palin's commitment to take on the causes of skin cancer, something which the man on the top of the ticket has battled, does it?
