Inside the Mind of a Gay Scott Brown Supporter

While discussing the outcome of the Massachusetts Senate election, Tony from Massachusetts called in to the show to explain why he, as a gay man, voted for -- and campaigned for -- the antigay Scott Brown, a man who opposes repealing "don't ask, don't tell," opposes the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, supports the Defense of Marriage Act and voted more than once in Massachusetts in the state legislature for a constitutional amendment to ban gays and lesbians from marrying.

There were no exit polls in the race, so it's impossible to know how many LGBT people may have voted for Brown. On my Facebook page one listener had said on election night that he knew several gay men who voted for Brown, so that prompted me to ask on the show for Brown supporters to call in. Tony was one of a few who did.
