3:30pm EST - In December, a marriage equality billed that was
introduced in October passed with near-unanimous support was signed by D.C. Mayor Adrian M.
Fenty. However, because Washington DC is a federal district, it had to undergo a review period from Congress. Yesterday, that review period expired. Today is the first day that gay and lesbian couples can get marriage licenses and become legally married in
Washington DC. Michael Crawford of
Freedom to Marry, joins us this afternoon to talk about today's celebration.
