ThinkProgress at the Center for American Progress Action Fund, joins us to
discuss The Alliance Defending Freedom, an Arizona based organization that has
used it money and army of lawyers to oppose marriage equality and a women’s reproductive
rights.
4:35pm ET - When Naya Taylor, a
transgender woman living in Mattoon, Illinois, asked to start hormone
replacement therapy (HRT) as part of her medically necessary,
transition-related health care to treat her gender dysphoria, her doctor
refused, first claiming that she was not
experienced in providing hormones to transgender people even though hormone
therapy is regularly provided to non-transgender patients in a variety of
settings every day. Later the clinic told Ms. Taylor that it “does not have to treat people like you.” HRT is one of the vital life-saving treatments used to
treat gender dysphoria, a recognized, serious medical condition. Joining us to talk about this is Naya Taylor
and Christopher Clark, a Senior Staff Attorney in the Midwest Regional Office
of Lambda Legal.
