A disturbing observation can be made all across America that white men are often angry – whether they are punk teenagers or conservative politicians. It seems so obvious, and also very startling, to see middle-class white American men, arguably the most privileged human beings on the planet fuming with such self-righteous outrage. In his new book Angry White Men: American Masculinity at the End of an Era, Sociologist Michael Kimmel looks into the phenomenon and joins us today to talk about his book and explain why these white men are so angry.
