The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SiriusXM PROGRESS ch.127

Over the past few years there have been a series of victories for LGBT civil rights and as a result conservatives have tried every trick in the book to stop the progress being made in this country.  There latest strategy involves the idea of Religious Liberty and using it to seek exemptions from federal laws that they do not like.  However according to political historian Kathleen J. Frydl, these conservatives are taking liberties with the idea of religious liberty and furthermore the “conscience clause,” on which the Supreme Court keeps granting employers exemptions from federal law, was originally a political decision, and the legal basis on which it stands is much more fragile than progressives realize.  She joins me today to talk all about the history of “conscience clause” and the effect it has on ordinary Americans.  You can also follow Kathleen on twitter.
