Today on The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SiriusXM PROGRESS ch.127
Yesterday, FBI Director
James Comey announced that the bureau would recommend to the Justice Department
that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton not be charged with a crime
relating to her use of a private email server.
The announcement was the result of the fact that his investigators had
found no clear evidence that Mrs. Clinton had intentionally broken the
law. However, Mr. Comey went a step
further in his press conference than simple announcing the findings of an
investigation, he went on to offer his opinion that that Sec. Clinton’s use of
a private email server was “extremely careless”, which is causing some people
to question whether or not he stepped over a line in doing so. Joining me today to talk all about Director
Comey’s press conference and whether or not he may have violated DOJ rules
about disclosing information about ongoing investigations is Matthew Miller, a former Director of
the Office of Public Affairs for the Department of Justice.
Last week, Utah voters
picked a historic, and largely unknown, Democratic candidate to challenge Sen. Mike Lee this November. Misty K. Snow who campaigned and won on
a progressive platform against a self-described conservative Democrat who
sought to govern as a centrist, will be the first transgender nominee from a
major party to run for a U.S. Senate seat and she joins me today on the show to
talk all about her campaign and the upcoming election.
Earlier
this year the Zika virus started making front-page news after an alarming
number of children in Brazil were born with microcephaly, a serious disorder
characterized by unusually small heads and brain damage. Since then, fear of
this epidemic has been growing internationally, but it’s been hard to tell
scientific fact from rumor. Joining me today in studio to demystify Zika is Donald McNeil Jr., The New York Times’ science reporter and the author of the new book
Zika: The Emerging Epidemic.
The book tells the gripping story of the origins of Zika, how the most recent
outbreak was discovered, and assesses the very real threat it poses to the
American public.
