Today on The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SiriusXM PROGRESS ch.127

Just as Trump’s attacks on a Gold Star Family have backfired on him, the Republican Party’s war on voting rights is also beginning to show some cracks.  Over the past 2 weeks 6 major GOP voting restrictions have been blocked in court and joining me today to go through all these important rulings and what they mean for the upcoming general election is Ari Berman a senior contributing writer for The Nation magazine and a Fellow at The Nation Institute

After the Orlando nightclub shooting, Democrats in Congress renewed their push for a gun bill, taking over the House floor for 26 hours in a sit-in for a vote on the so-called “No Fly, No Buy” legislation, which would bar people on the terrorist watch list from purchasing a gun.  Yet, not surprisingly after all was said and done, Congress once again did nothing to address the epidemic of gun violence afflicting our Nation.  However, according to Matt Fuller who covers Congress for The Huffington Post this latest effort to reform our nation’s gun laws was stopped not by the NRA but an even more rabid and less known group called the National Association for Gun Rights.  Matt joins me today on the show to talk all about this group and how they were able to pressure the right members of Congress to shut down even a watered down attempt to address gun violence on our streets.
