Gay "Fascist" Weddings in California

Gay marriages in California may start as soon as Saturday June 14th. Even Stephen Weir, the head of the California Association of Clerks and Election Officials plans to get in on the action and wed his partner of 18 years. Court rulings in CA usually take effect 30 days after the rulings come down and Weir said county clerks have discretion to start licensing gay nuptials that Saturday or the following Monday.

Meanwhile, the wingnuts are encouraging their supporters to call county clerks and ask them to not enforce the high court's ruling. "The Campaign for Children and Families" is organizing the effort and according to Think Progress had this as one of their main talking points:

"Ask your county clerk if they were a Nazi officer during WWII and had been ordered to gas the Jews, would they? At the Nuremberg trials, they would have been convicted of murder for following this immoral order."

The comparison between gay marriage and the systematic gassing of Jews during the Holocaust has since been scrubbed from their website-- but references to the Nuremberg trails, the Dred-Scott decision, and the massacre of pro-democracy protesters Tianamen Square remain. Apparently standing up against gay marriage is the same thing as fighting to free the slaves. Will these people ever run out of historically unrelated hyperbolic references to validate their own delusion? While they're at it, perhaps they should encourage their supporters to "Ask your county clerk if they would have supported the rise of the Khmer Rouge" or "Ask your county clerk if they would have supported the First and Second Defenestrations of Prague."

These people are insane and it's going to take everything we've got to push them back. Donate now to equalityforall.com to help defeat the CA marriage amendment this fall.
