Today on the Signorile Show

We are back today and we have a lot of ground to cover!

We are quickly approaching the 50th day of the Deepwater Horizon leak in the Gulf of Mexico and the oil is still flowing, though they tell us it has slowed down. After the Top Kill failed, the next option was to cut a portion of the pipe and cap the leak. The cap seems to be holding while BP collects some of it, but the leaking of some oil could potentially go until Christmas. Meanwhile, there's been the distraction of whether or not Obama is "angry" enough, when what we need is simply someone to take on BP and help us all get off of oil soon. We'll get into all the updates, including what Adm. Thad Allen had to say at a press conference about the containment of the leak.

It looks like Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum had insisted on hiring Dr. George "Rentboy" Reker's, according to records from the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). Reports say, "Records show that DCF did not want to hire Rekers as an expert witness in the lawsuit because he wanted to charge $300 an hour. DCF only agreed to his hiring after McCollum strongly recommended it." We'll get back into the Reker's madness today.

Guest / 3:30pm EST - It's timely in the wake of the oil disaster to talk with Author Robert Bryce this afternoon about his book Power Hungry: The Myths of "Green" Energy and the Real Fuels of the Future, in which he offers his provocative assessment of the $5 trillion-per-year global energy industry and the fuels, both hydrocarbons and alternatives, that power the industry. Bryce says a lot of "green" alternatives just aren't ready and may never be and says nuclear power is the way for now if we went to off oil fast, and he doesn't think it will be all too quickly either. We'll listen with an open mind.

Guest / 4:30pm EST - Attorney Ted Olson, former Bush solicitor general and lawyer for Bush in the Bush vs. Gore SCOTUS decision, joins us this afternoon to discuss his involvement in the Prop 8 case, what he expects to hear in the closing arguments and what could potentially happen if this reached the Supreme Court.

Should transgender women be able to go topless on a beach? Why not? And why shouldn't all women for that matter? Controversy erupted in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, a gay enclave, when several transgender women couldn't be arrested because they had male genitalia. We'll get into it and take your calls.

Lots of outrage over Elton John singing at homophobic Rush Limbaugh's (4th!) wedding in Palm Beach, collecting a million dollars. We'll get into it and ask you to weigh in!

Last week, Bill O'Reilly was discussing a McDonald's commercial from France, where there is a gay son and his father sharing a meal. The tag line for the commercial was "Come As You Are." O'Reilly has a problem with a commercial which was targeted at the LGBT community, asking if al-Qaeda would get a McDonald's commercial as well. Do we want an apology from this guy? We'll discuss today.
