Today on the Signorile Show

President Obama will give the State of the Union address tonight. Lots of discussion about what he will say, the "centrist" approach he will take and the lowered expectations that the Human Rights Campaign is trying to create, preparing people for the fact that the president will say nothing on LGBT rights. What should he say? What will he say? We'll take your calls.

Republicans took control of the House of Representatives riding on a wave of Tea Party activism, which, the media told us, were a whole new wave of conservatives that was focused on less government and had thrown out the divisive social issues of the past. But not yet a month into their new found control Republicans are backing a bill to ban gay marriage in Washington DC, whose city council had made marriage legal for gays and lesbians last year. The effort is led by Ohio Republican Jim Jordan, who who aggressively courted Tea Party activists. Never mind the fact that interfering in Washington DC’s affairs and thwarting home rule is the very essence of federal government overreach. It seems that the Republican Party leaders only wants less government when it suit them and the Tea Party, and still is very much captive to the ugly demands of religious zealot. We'll get into it.

3:30pm EST - Jaren Artery, board member with Wyoming Equality, will speak with us today about a recent House bill that now moves to the Wyoming Senate, which prevents the state from recognizing out of state civil unions and same-sex marriages. There is a possibility of a compromise, with law makers moving forward to get their own version of a civil unions bill passed in the near future.

4:30pm EST - Cherry Vanilla, iconic publicist to David Bowie, performer with Andy Warhol and author of Lick Me: How I Became Cherry Vanilla, sits with us in studio this afternoon to talk about her book, which is an amazing look at the life of someone who lived through an explosive time in music and pop culture!

In New York and Arkansas there are efforts underway to ban texting and walking as well as listening to music with your headsets while running or cycling. WTF? We'll take your calls. And yes, you'll be driving while talking on the phones -- be careful!

And, don't forget, you can follow me on Twitter and Facebook!
