Creationism in Non-Evolving Sheep's Clothing

The anti-evolution crowd will stop at nothing to get their ideas taught in public schools. The latest battleground is Texas. This time, instead of clashing over teaching "intelligent design" (which has been struck down by several courts), it's about whether or not state textbooks should cover the "strengths and weaknesses" of evolution. The theory of evolution is as close to a scientific fact as you can get and requiring textbooks to questionit is like requiring astronomy teachers to cover the "strengths and weakness" of the heliocentric solar system.
Texas State Board of Education Chairman Dr. Don McLeroy, a dentist from Central Texas, told the New York Times that “I believe a lot of incredible things, The most incredible thing I believe is the Christmas story. That little baby born in the manger was the god that created the universe.” Perhaps I should repeat to you that McLeroy is the chairman of the State Board of Education.
What's even more alarming is that Christmas-story-creationists like McLeroy hold 7 out of 15 seats on the Texas Education Board. That means they are one vote away from giving their "blessing" to a change in Texas textbooks.
