Taking on Gay Republicans

As promised, this is a clip of the conversation I had on the show last week with caller Steven in Pittsburgh. He called in after I had spoken with Patrick Sammon, president of the Log Cabin Republicans. It was quite a lengthy call, as I wanted to really flesh out the gay Republican philosophy and how they were applying it to this election.

As the clip begins, Steve had been talking about the issues of health care and taxes, and how he disagreed with the Democrats' approach. And I was making the point that the gay issue, if you are GLBT, has to trump all the others, considering how the Republicans, and George Bush -- and John McCain -- have courted homobigots. Your thoughts are welcome. (One minor correction: In the heat of the moment I inadvertently said that John Hagee was on McCain's payroll. Of course I know he was not. In the context of the clip, however, the point is the same.)
