Free Speech Zones
The designated "Free Speech Zones" -- the ones used to cage protesters at the 2004 Republican and Democratic Conventions -- may be back. The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit to keep it from happening again at the Democratic National Convention this summer in Denver. Authorities in the city keep beefing up their plans and the ACLU has to keep amending their lawsuit to ask for basic rights like the ability to distribute "leaflets and pamphlets to delegates."
It's ridiculous that Americans now have to sue for the right to distribute pamphlets to their fellow citizens--after all it's not like pamphleteering played an important role in the founding of this nation or anything.
Also, just a programming note that we will be broadcasting live from inside both conventions this summer!
