McCain on Viagra

Top McCain strategist Carly Fiorina really likes to play "fast and loose" with the facts and it's starting to get her boss into trouble. The latest bit of flubbing involves Fiorina's assertion that McCain's free-market-wiz-bang health care "solution" would encourage patients to "shop around" for the best health plan for themselves. Fiorina backed up her argument by saying “There are many health insurance plans that will cover Viagra but won’t cover birth-control medication,” and that “Those women would like a choice.”

The only problem with this argument is that John McCain voted against a 2005 bill that would force insurance companies to cover birth control and Viagra across the board. So which is it: does McCain support or oppose birth control and Viagra as part of health insurance plans? He actually didn't know what his position has been -- or what it should now be in order to to placate the religious right, we think -- and said he get back to everyone on it -- after an 8 second pause. Talk about lame.

Actually, just thinking about John McCain and Viagra at the same time gives us a very icky feeling.
