Where Will They Go?

This is one we will definitely get into on the show today. Please call in, but also jump in here in the comments. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Remember just before the 2004 election when many liberals and Democrats said they would leave the country if George W. Bush was re-elected? Some did. They went to Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand (where I lived for two years, by the way) and elsewhere. Many came back, and the stories were interesting: sort of like Dorothy reciting, "There's no place like home."

We talked a lot about that on the show back then, and since then too. We talked with many people who were leaving after 2004, and others who came back. Obviously, as a radio program that is satcast across the U.S. and Canada, we had some interesting perspectives from scores of Americans and Canadians in both countries. In the end, in the past year or so, people geared up for the fight and stopped talking about leaving.

Now, however, it is Republicans and conservatives who are threatening to leave the country if Obama wins. (The people who chat about things like this on FuckFrance.com are discussing it too, though obviously they are not heading to France!)

So, the big question is: Where will they go? Where should they go? Where would they go? It was easy for liberals to rattle off a bunch of enlightened Western democracies. But what countries would conservatives see as models they'd like to emulate and where they'd feel safe and secure? (Okay, and where do you think they should head if you had your way too?)

I leave it to you all you. I know one great answer so far, but I'll save if for the show. Your suggestions?
