4:35pm ET -  In recent months, the trans-rights movement has been growing in power and visibility, with a recent Time Magazine cover featuring the actress Laverne Cox headlined The Transgender Tipping Point.  However despite this movement towards larger acceptance in society a recent survey by the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force found overwhelming levels of anti-trans violence and persecution, with some of this persecution coming from an unlikely source.  In her recent article in the August 4th Issue of the New Yorker Magazine titled What Is a Woman? The dispute between radical feminism and transgenderism author and senior contributing writer for The Nation Michelle Goldberg talks about this dispute and explains why radical feminist refuse to accept transgender women as women.   She joins us today to discuss her article and the fight over what it means to be a woman in our society today.  You can also follow Michelle on twitter.
