Today On The Signorile Show!

3:35pm ET - As the conflict in Gaza continues, liberal Zionists are at a crossroads, and according to Antony Lerman in his latest Op-ed in the NY Times, the original tradition of combining Zionism and liberalism, which meant ending the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, supporting a Palestinian state as well as a Jewish state, and standing behind Israel when it is threatened, was well intentioned, but that as a result of recent events in Israel everything liberal Zionists stand for is now in doubt.  He joins us today to discuss his op-ed and explain what the future of Israel's liberal Zionist movement entails.

4:35pm ET - Fifty years after Michael Harrington published his groundbreaking book The Other America, in which he chronicled the lives of people excluded from the Age of Affluence, poverty in America is back with a vengeance.   In his book The American Way of Poverty: How the Other Half Still LivesSasha Abramsky highlights the effects of economic insecurity in the United States and looks at the lives of the millions of working poor and those living in poverty.  He also suggests ways to strengthen the social safety net and calls for a reinvigorated war on poverty.
