3:35pm ET - On Monday,
California’s Governor Jerry Brown signed a new affirmative consent law which
requires colleges in the state to adopt what’s sometimes called the “yes means
yes” standard for sexual assault, meaning that a person’s silence or passivity
in the face of sexual advances cannot be taken as consent. Joining us to talk about this law and how it will be put into practice is Michelle Goldberg is a senior contributing writer at The Nation. You can also follow Michelle on twitter.
5:00pm ET - As oil and gas
production has increased all across the United States a lot has been said about
the effects that the industry and its practices are having on the environment, however
little attention has been paid to the negative consequences that the activities
of these corporations are having on the people in which they operate. In her recent piece in the Washington Post,
Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Sari Horwitz investigated how the recent oil
boom in North Dakota is impacting the Native American populations in the area,
and she joins us today to talk about her article Dark side of the boom: North Dakota’s oil rush brings cash and promise to reservation, along with drug-fueled crime. You can also follow Sari on twitter.
