4:05pm ET - The Republican
attorneys generals of Nebraska and Oklahoma have decided that despite their
claimed defense of ‘states rights’ they should have a say over what happens in
the state of Colorado. Just before the holidays, the two men, Jon Bruning and
Scott Pruitt, filed a lawsuit against Colorado for legalizing marijuana. Should they succeed, their case could lead to epic
battles among the states over regulation of guns and pollution, and give
Congress unprecedented power to regulate the States. Joining us today to discuss this lawsuit, its
implications, and how it might backfire in the face of these two fair-weather federalists is Mark Joseph Stern of Slate. You can also follow Mark on twitter.
4:35pm ET - Over the last 50
years the institution of motherhood in America has changed drastically. More
women are having their children later in life, or they're doing so in less
traditional ways: before marriage, without marriage, or with unmarried
partners. Single motherhood has grown so common in America that demographers
now believe half of all children will live with a single mom at some point
before the age of 18. Joining us today
to discuss the implications of this seismic shift in family structure is Emily Badger a reporter for The Washington Post’s Wonkblog. You can also follow Emily on twitter.
