Thanksgiving, Alina Simone’s mother
received a ransom note, however it wasn't
made up of cut out letters from a
newspaper, it popped up on her computer screen soon after she’d discovered that
all of her files had been locked. “Your files are encrypted,” it announced. “To
get the key to decrypt files you have to pay 500 USD. Sincerely, CryptoWall.”
Alina joins us today to talk about her mother’s experience, which she wrote about for The New York Times, and tell us
all about the latest strain of a larger body of computer viruses known as
