critic Dale Peck is both loved and
hated for his often scathing reviews, which the
New York Times once referred to as “grenades … intended not to disparage,
not to bring down a peg, but to destroy his victims”. However, what you may not know about Dale is
that he is also an activist who spent years working with groups like ACT UP to
raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, and his new memoir titled Visions and Revisions: Coming of Age in the Age of AIDS
details his experiences during what he calls “the second half of the first half
on the AIDS epidemic” or the period between 1987 and 1996 when AIDS changed
from a death sentence to a manageable illness.
Dale joins us today to discuss his new book.
