When the Affordable Care Act was rolled out,
Kentucky was the only southern state to fully embrace the program by creating a
successful state insurance exchange and expanding Medicaid. However, following the results of November
3rds Gubernatorial election, all the progress made in the state that has been
seen as the nation’s premier ACA success story is about to be undone by
businessman Matt Bevin who is only the second Republican elected to the
Governor’s office in 48 years. Mr. Bevin
centered his campaign on a pledge to dismantle the state’s exchange and
effetely take away the healthcare of hundreds of thousands Kentuckians, and at
his first news conference since his victory he announced that this still
remains a top priority for him. Joining
me today to talk all about Governor-elect Bevin and what will happen in
Kentucky if he follows through on his plan is Igor Volsky the Director of Video and Contributing Editor of ThinkProgress.org.
