The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SiriusXM PROGRESS ch.127

When gay Republican activist and GOProud co-founder Jimmy LaSalvia announced his resignation from the GOP early last year it received significant media attention and seemed to highlight the frustration that many conservatives and moderates felt with the direction the Party was headed.  Now, in his new memoir No Hope: Why I Left the GOP (and You Should Too) Jimmy offers a behind-the-scenes look at what led him to this decision and he joins me today in studio to talk all about the book and why he thinks the GOP is out of touch with Americans today.  You can also follow Jimmy on twitter.

Last month, in an effort to raise awareness about water pollution environmental activist Christopher Swain made headlines when he swam 1.8-miles of Brooklyn’s infamous Gowanus Canal, which for more than 150 years, has been treated as an open sewer and an industrial dumping ground.  However, according to author Joseph Alexiou it is also one of the most important waterways in the history of New York harbor and as a result to the success of the Nation. In his new book Gowanus: Brooklyn’s Curious Canal he tells the history of this fascinating creek’s true origins, man-made character, and its importance to the city which has all been largely forgotten.  Joseph joins me today in studio to talk all about Brooklyn’s Curious Canal.  You can also follow Joseph on twitter.
