South Dakota is
currently poised to become the first state in the nation to enact a law that
would deny transgender students access to the bathrooms, locker rooms and
shower facilities of the gender with which they identify. The bill which was approved by both houses of
the state legislature is currently waiting on the signature of Republican Gov.
Dennis Daugaard who has said that the measure seems like a good idea and plans
to research the issue before making up his mind on whether to make the bill
law. Joining me today to talk all about
South Dakota’s anti-trans bill and the effect it could have on transgender
people across the country is Rebecca Juro, journalist, activist, and radio talk show host. You can also follow Rebecca on twitter.
