Today on The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SiriusXM PROGRESS ch.127

Today, the New York State Court of Appeals ruled that non-biological, non-married, non-adoptive parents can seek custody and visitation of children who were born into their relationships with the consent of the child’s biological parent. The decision comes in a case Lambda Legal co-counseled with Blank Rome LLP and The LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York on behalf of Brooke B., a non-biological lesbian mother who is seeking shared parenting time and financial responsibility for a child she and her former same-sex partner planned for and raised together. Joining me today to talk all about this landmark change in New York for children born to same-sex and other couples who couldn’t or didn’t marry and who later split up is Margaret Canby who was co-counsel on the case and is a partner at Blank Rome LLP.

On Monday, the pharmaceutical company Mylan announced that in a few weeks it will introduce a generic version of the EpiPen for $300, about half the cost of its name-brand product.  This announcement only came after massive outrage following the company’s dramatic increase of the cost of the life saving device.  Joining me today to talk all about the controversy surround EpiPen’s is Kiera Butler, who is a senior editor at Mother Jones and a person who has to carry one with her in case of an anaphylactic reaction as a result of her nut allergy.

Today on The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SiriusXM PROGRESS ch.127

On Friday, Politico published an article on how Republicans strategists are already sketching plan to stymie a President Hillary Clinton agenda; the article quoted Jonathan Cowan, who is the president of the moderate think tank Third Way, who suggested that Hillary Clinton will have govern from the center in order to fight GOP obstruction.  However, according to Joan McCarter the Senior Political Writer forDaily Kos this is probably not going to be the case as the possibility that Democrats may win the White House and the Senate in a landslide in November is beginning to look more and more likely.  Joan joins me on the show today to talk all about the claims that Clinton will have to govern from the center and the likelihood of a major blowout in November.

Iran has been one of the central focuses on this election cycle, with criticisms and praise of the Obama Administrations Iranian Nuclear deal and trying to improve relations with the controversial Middle Eastern country.  To understand how we got here though, we need to look back at the history of Iran.  This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the beginning of Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi’s ruling Iran and with more and more attention the country has been getting as a player on the world stage, many historians are reassessing the legacy of the Shaw.  One such historian is Andrew Scott Cooper, who joins me now to talk Iran and his new book “The Fall of Heave: The Pahlavis and the Final Days of Imperial Iran”.
