Yesterday, Donald Trump sought to move beyond a week of turmoil by using a major policy address to cast himself as a president who could bring new jobs and prosperity to the country while warning that his rival, Hillary Clinton, would be a steward of stagnation. Joining me today to talk all about Trump’s plans to simplify the tax system, rethink America’s energy policy, and tear up trade agreements is Neil Irwin, a senior economics correspondent for The New York Times, where he writes for The Upshot.
During his address to the Detroit Economic Club on Monday, Donald Trump proposed a new plan to cut the cost of childcare in America which many people are saying would actually only help the more wealthy segments of our population. The proposal which has not gotten as much attention as his plan to cut taxes across the board, is still very interesting in its own right as it represents a departure from GOP orthodoxy and according to Eleanor Clift, the Washington correspondent for the Daily Beast it is also a sign of our political future. Eleanor returns to the show again today to talk all about Trump’s Childcare Plan and why the Republican nominee for President only wants to help little rich kids.
