Summer of the Crazies

Haven't posted since yesterday; it's been a wacky, nonstop couple of days on the show. I've been exhausted when the show ended, so petered out from the more fevered among the calls, though laughing my head off.

All the right-wing crazies are out it seems, and those of you who are listeners will remember Deborah, the caller from Georgia who said that we needed to drop nuclear bombs on Iran, North Korea, Pakistan and Afghanistan "IMMEDIATELY." I talked to her about quite a bit, from gay marriage to the war in Iraq (and she called me a few names when she couldn't back up her arguments, as is typical of these types) and then we all chatted about her madness and had quite a few laughs. As kooky as she was, we realized that she represented a lot of people out there -- the base of the Republican Party and then some -- and it seems like they're all getting mighty desperate and antsy. She was very angry, including at George W. Bush on immigration, enough that she'd pulled her support, while calling for dropping bombs now. What is going on?
