Evangelical Abduction
Via Towleroad comes this outrageous, mind-boggling and frightening story which we discussed for almost two hours on the show today.
It picks up on a "report" that Pat Robertson promoted two weeks ago on The 700 Club about "purity sieges" along I-35, which runs north to south through the midwest -- the clip is below -- which seemed like another laughable bit of madness from the fundies.
But as usual, the dangerous ramifications of their theocratic, authoritarian crusade have become apparent. One man who had some emotional problems, and was not on his medication, found himself in an "ex-gay" program for four months after a "purity siege" engulfed him outside of a Dallas gay bar. His pro-gay father, who now has his son back at home, says it was a horrible experience that has adversely affected his son, who was apparently previously accepting of his sexual orientation as were his parents. John Wright wrote all about it in the Dallas Voice, but best to view the clip below first if you haven't already, just so you have the background to the story.
