It's All Semantics! You Say Surge, I Say Tomato!

John McCain is standing his ground regarding the erroneous comments he made during his censored CBS interview this week regarding the surge.

McCain claimed the surge allowed the "Anbar Awakening" in which Sunni sheiks turned against Al Qaeda, helping in turn to reduce violence in the country. It's widely agreed the opposite is true and the reduction in violence started before the surge. McCain is now digging in and supporting his "gaffe" by claiming there were elements of the surge in place even before Bush ordered the troop increases, and that it's all a matter of "semantics".

What is becoming evident is that this was not a "gaffe," "error," or "misstatement" on McCain's part, as most media is presenting it, but a deliberate and planned attempt to rewrite history. At least George W. waited to get into the White House to do his historical editing.
