3:35pm ET - Critics of Obama focus on his loss of power since the election, but
the president could still implement significant reforms without congressional
approval. An executive order requiring new
campaign finance disclosures would shine light on “dark money” from
governmental contractors, including many large corporations. Investigative reporter Lee Fang of the Nation Institute and founder of Republic Report joins us today to talk about Obama’s
power to reform.
4:35pm ET - Now with a Republican
majority coming into office, environmental policies are vulnerable. Republican leadership has made it a priority
to push the Keystone Pipeline—a controversial plan for an oil line that spans from Texas all the way
to Canada. Republicans will have a
filibuster proof majority, plus the support of some Democrats on the proposal. Obama might be on the verge of compromising on
the pipeline, but other environmental issues and precedents will also be at
stake this term. The Huffington Post's Kate
Sheppard joins us to talk about Keystone and other critical issues in US
environmental policy.
