Obama Considering A Phobe for VP?

There's been a lot of discussion about the list of possible VP running mates circulated by pundits in the media. In particular -- at least on some of the gay insider groups -- the inclusion of former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn has caused a lot of consternation.

Nunn endorsed Obama in April, and is a national security adviser to the campaign. He also is perhaps one of the most homophobic Democratic senators of the 90s, a man who actively whipped up a campaign of demonization during the debacle over Bill Clinton's attempt to lift the ban on gays in the military. Wayne Besen has distilled everything from back then, and offers his thoughts on why Obama cannot choose Nunn if he expects the support of LGBT voters. It's time we start making our voices heard on this loudly and clearly, and let it be known that Nunn is unacceptable not just for VP but for Defense Secretary or any other major position that requires leadership to foster Obama's vision of equality.
